Oriental Daily: Zhang Hongbao was Granted Political Asylum

6/15  Oriental Daily

Comprehensive report from this newspaper: According to Hong Kong Human Rights and Democratic Movement Information Center yesterday, Zhonggong (also called Chinese Health-care Intelligence-enhancing Qi Gong) founder Zhang Hongbao (see picture) whose application for political asylum was rejected by US Guam court last September, successfully appealed to INS Appealing Committee and was officially granted political asylum by this Committee on 13th this month.

Zhang who had been in exile for 7 years will qualify for applying for permanent residence in US next June, after being granted political asylum. INS Appealing Committee said in its verdict that, this Committee found the evidences for “rape” offered by CCP incredulous, since the supposed victim didn’t turn him in until after 10 years. Besides, there are a lot more evidences showing that Zhonggong is being persecuted by CCP. For these reasons, this Committee granted Zhang political asylum.

The 47 year-old Zhang Hongbao founded Zhonggong in 1987. In 1990, Chinese government-controlled newspaper said that Zhonggong had students of 38 million in the whole country. Since Zhonggong has such a large number of followers, CCP’s watch and persecution to Zhonggong started to escalate that year. Zhang was forced to escape the Continent in 1994, and had been in exile since then.
