Chinese high-level officials are Deeply Worried that Zhong Gong is Preserving its Strength and is Forming a New Opposition Force

Central Agency: Jiang Zemin Orders to Keep Close Watch on Zhong Gong  (Excerpt)

By Shu Zhenhui  (Hong Kong, August 20)

After the story that Zhang Hongbao, the founder of Zhong Gong, applied to US for political asylum was disclosed, many American media outlets had extensive coverage of the Chinese government’s suppression of Zhong Gong. This has caused a lot of concern among Chinese government’s highlevel officials. The government is worried that Zhong- Gong, which claimed to have 38 million students, has adopted the strategy of  “breaking the whole into parts and preserving strength”. It may go further to become a much stronger opposition force than Falun Gong.

Following its crack down on Falun Gong, Zhong-Gong is now the target for harsh and severe suppression by the Chinese government. However, Zhong- Gong members, unlike those of Falun Gong, have not held any demonstration to protest the Chinese government’s suppression. But it is said that this is part of Zhong-Gong’s strategy of “preserving strength”. At the same time, the key members of Zhong Gong have left their original residences in an effort to stay away from the suppression of the Chinese government and to spread Zhong - Gong in other places. They attempt to promote Zhong-Gong and the Kylin culture it advocates, so as to develop it into a new opposition force.
