Hong Kong News: U.S. Senate Majority Leader pleads U.S. Department of Justice to
release 'Zhong Gong's founder Zhang Hongbao who is still caught in Guam prison.
According to the news provided by Hong Kong "Information Center of China Human
Rights and Democracy Movement on Sunday, U.S. Senate Republican leader Lott and
others wrote letters to U.S. Attorney General recently. They pointed out in the
letters that the spiritual movement "Zhong Gong" founded by Zhang Hongbao in
China has involved tens of millions of Chinese citizens. As the leader of the
largest civic organization in China, Mr. Zhang's personal safety is very
important. Lott and the others have recommended U.S. Department of Justice to
release Zhang Hongbao, uphold the Immigration Court's original June-September
2000 decision and grant him political asylum or protection against torture. They
have also suggested to transfer Zhang Hongbao to Washington D.C. for ensuring
his safety.
