To realize immortality, one must make sure if there is such a thing called “genetic substance” in this world at all. Is there such a potential in human bodies? Otherwise, all our life-long pursuit will just turn out to be nothing. What a waste of money and life! We will only turn ourselves into a laughing stock or simply be described as “losing control and turn ourselves into monsters”.
Then, is there such an “immortal genetic substance” in this world at all? The classic Chinese Internal Practice theory thinks “Prenatal Qi” is the source of everything in the universe. Everything comes from this “Qi”, one way or another. This “Qi”, goes through thousands of disastrous cycles but never spoils. It is above everything in the universe and stays the same forever. Whoever can get this “Qi” and operates it appropriately, he will be immortal. The counterpart of this “Qi” is also explained in modern nuclear physics. According to nuclear physics, the universe has photons and neutrinos which have an infinite life span. The essence of the universe is made up of photons and neutrinos. Everything comes from them, including spiritual phenomena.
Physics tells us: substance is made up of atoms and atoms are made up of nuclei and electrons. And nuclear physics discovered that nuclei are made up of elementary particles and within each elementary particle, photons and neutrinos are found. As for positive /negative photons and positive/negative neutrinos, their still quality is 0, with infinite life. Other elementary particles do have longer life, for example, protons’ life span is (2x 10)30 square years, and electrons’ life span is (5x10) 21 square years. Even though their life spans are amazing enough, they are not infinite after all. Only photons and elementary particles exist infinitely. According to the diagram of elementary particles life statistics, negative elementary particles existed even in the early stage of the universe. Therefore, nuclear physics thinks the essence of the universe is made up of photons and neutrinos. Everything comes from them.
Although the classic Chinese Internal Practice theory and the modern nuclear physics use different ways to describe their theories, they discovered the same thing: immortal genetic substance in the universe. Here let us still refer to it as “Qi”, from the point of view of the classic Chinese Internal Practice theory. In other words, the decision on researching for the subject of immortality is not based on imagination, but on modern scientific evidences.
Now let’s look away from the theory, but look at the practice: the ones enjoyed longest life spans in Chinese history, were An Qisheng and Zhang Guolao and both lived over 3000 years. The instructor for Emperor Huang, Guang Chengzi, was already 1200 years old when the Emperor consulted him; Pengzu, who was exiled in India, lived for 760 years in China before he went to India; and Laozi lived over 700 years. After Tang and Song Dynasty, the classic Chinese Internal Practitioners all lived over 100 years on average, such as Lu Dongbin who lived over 1000 years and often came out to help save people in many years to come; Chen Tuan who was known as the Hua Mountain Sleep Fairy lived for over 150 years; Zhang Sanfeng lived for over 140 years; the classic Chinese Internal Practitioners in the South lived over 110 years on average; and the Northern classic Chinese Internal Practitioners all lived over 100 years except for the first generation who emphasized the spiritual side and passed away relatively early. Although modern people couldn’t see how they were engaged in life, every one of them left some precious records of successful experiences in the classic Chinese Internal Practice, either by words or by oral tales.
The issue of immortality attracted thousands of people, from the emperors to subjects. The earliest king Yin of Shang Dynasty learned the classic Chinese Internal Practice from Pengzu and lived over 300 years; Liang Wu Emperor lived up to 83 years old by practicing Buddhism. Through human history, many people gave up the thrones to go after longevity, such as Sakyamuni and his first disciple A Nan and later on Da Mo. They were all successors to the throne, but they gave up the throne to pursue longevity and internal practice. As for the founder of Mi sect of Buddhism, Lotus Da-shi, he gave up his status of the prince in his own country first, then let go of another throne in another country and focused on practice Mi and left after he achieved the goal. Emperor Huang, who was regarded as the first king of ethnic Chinese people, searched for fairies and left the great book of “The Internal Practice of Emperor Huang” after he achieved his goal and left the world. Liu Haizhan who was the prime minister of Yan Kingdome also succeeded in internal practice after giving up his position. Zhang Liang retired early after his great achievement to study internal practice. Laozi gave up his position as the chief of the national library and left…This kind of examples are abundant in Chinese history. These people were all brainy, distinguished, well-educated; they would not have given up the biggest human interest and gone for a simple belief or fantasy. Of course, not everyone who tried succeeded. That’s why there has been such a saying, “people who are after Tao are as many as the hairs on a cow yet the ones who succeeded are as rare as phoenix feathers and unicorn horns.”
Yet, from the angle of scientific study, even only one successful example is worthwhile to study. Since there are the rare examples of success, it means it is not impossible. What we can do, is to study this successful example and pass on the lesson to everyone in the world and help everyone board the ship of eternity.
According to the principle of life, so long as we can decode the key mystery of “aging” and eliminate it, then we can largely delay the process of aging and dying, and eventually achieve the goal of controlling life and enjoy longevity.
As to the modern science that is progressing at the ultrasonic speed, the longevity is an unavoidable issue. “My life should be managed in my hands, not in the Heaven’s hands” reflects the heroic spirit and should belong in today’s Human Science.
